Paradise Seeds Question and Answer
About Paradise Seeds
The following interview was originally conducted by the Seedsman cannabis bank retailers who have recently moved their headquarters from London to Barcelona and now conduct their business in Euro.
Paradise Seeds are one of the most awarded seed banks in history and they not only have a large trophy cabinet, but a large selection of superb strains, all of which you can buy, via this site, from Paradise Seeds themselves.
Seedsman: We sat down with our friends at Paradise Seeds to ask them our 10 Quick Questions.
1. How was Paradise Seeds born?
Paradise Seeds was born in Amsterdam in 1994 although founder of the company, Luc, started collecting seeds for a few years before. The seeds were brought to him by friends returning from travels to cannabis hot spots in India, Colombia, Africa and Afghanistan. He began to experiment and by the early Nineties, Luc’s seeds were attracting the attention of growers and smokers alike in Amsterdam. If you want to find out more about how Paradise started, check out our newly released video.
2. Why was Paradise Seeds Created?
The demand for Luc’s seeds grew so much that in 1994, he officially established Paradise Seeds. The company began with 5 official strains – including Dutch Dragon and Sensi Star. The aim of the company has always been to produce cannabis strains that combine potency with flavour and taste. A smoke to savour. A connoisseur’s selection!
3. What makes your seeds different?
We are celebrating our 21st birthday this year so we would have to say experience helps a lot! Since the beginning, we have invested in building up a strong strain base, selecting and crossing only the best plants from the many thousands we have grown over the years.
4. What is your most popular strain?
There is a handful of strains that have retained their popularity since they were first released. Wappa is definitely a favourite for its all round performance, and of course Sensi Star has been a big hit with the Indica heads and is a multiple cup winner. In the autoflower department, right now Pandora and Auto Wappa are very popular. Of some of our more recent varieties, the Durga Mata ll CBD and Nebula ll CBD strains have been well received by medical users with their high CBD content.
5. What unique strain would you recommend people try from your collection?
White berry. She’s like our forbidden fruit from some fairy tale forest! She is one of newer generation strains and has a potency that we refer to as ‘complex and versatile’. That’s because White berry is an Indica hard hitter that comes with a Sativa lift and overwhelming flavour, which makes her good for both day and night smoking. Like we said, complex and versatile… Oh yeah, and she really looks the part too!
6. If you could say why people should buy from Paradise Seeds in one sentence, what would that sentence be?
Stable strains, reliable results, complex flavours and something a bit special… which is why our shelves are filled with cups!
7. Any special/secret cultivation tips you can let our readers know about?
Rabbit manure. It’s a great source of slow releasing nitrogen…
8. Do you have any brand new strains soon to be released?
We’ve been working on a special cross with our beloved Sensi Star for a while. We’re now testing the offspring thoroughly to make sure it is stable enough before releasing it to the public, but you’ll hear about it soon!
9. What does the future hold for Paradise Seeds?
We are running breeding programmes all the time at Paradise Seeds and so new strains are constantly in development.
Meanwhile, we are also getting involved in more projects around the world, particularly in the field of medical cannabis. In the past couple of years, we have been involved with some great projects, like the Daya Foundation and the Medical Cannabis Bike Tour, and we will continue to support these initiatives.
We helped the Daya Foundation to set up Chile’s first legal cannabis grow for medical patients. The work they are doing in the country is inspirational and we have produced a short video report about the project which was released earlier this year.
We also had riders participating in the Medical Cannabis Bike Tour in Holland, Belgium and Germany in June. Like Seedsman, Paradise Seeds was a sponsor. It was a phenomenal success with over 80 riders and volunteers and over a 100,000€ raised towards the cost of clinical trials using cannabis as a cancer treatment.
